Thursday 11th December

Right, been properly cold now for a while, so it's really feeling like winter.   And obviously the whole diminishing-daylight thing has been unavoidable for some time - it's dark, folks!   These days I need to get up at the first signs of daylight to absorb as much as possible, before darknes falls, ooh, mid-afternoon it is now.   Of course, some days proper daylight never comes, so often I spend far too long in bed going, it can't be time to get up yet, it's STILL DARK!!!!

Ahem.   My friend recently announced that he was "giving up winter", and moving to Tenerife.   He's got the right idea.   I wonder if you can get a low-dairy vegetarian diet there without too much trouble?   I fear this is unlikely.   If I were the other kind of "vegetarian", the kind that eats seafood (which for the life of me I just can't re-define as "vegetables", no matter how hard I try), I'd be laughing, as the saying goes.

If only there were somewhere warm and light where tofu was the national dish, and a range of soya-based proteins bedecked the shelves of the local grocery (for some reason I really wanted to put "constabulary" there.   Oh what the heck  - if only a range of soya-based proteins bedecked the shelves of the local constabulary, then surely that would be a land of  milk and honey.   And tofu.)

And so, as I become increasingly irrational, I shall leave you.   Before it gets dark.
