Thursday 24th April
Right! Feeling (today at least) refreshed after my extended sabbatical. Plan to, er, do something or something.
No! Really!
Look, I booked some gigs and everything!
Okay, I know it's been a long time. I'm still really excited about possible ensemble things to come; at the moment it really is a case of finding the right people to work with - I've learnt from past experience that trying to work with the wrong people or in the wrong environment is not only a waste of time, it can actually be counter-productive, even damaging.
Hopefully, I won't be doing that again.
But, equally hopefully, I'll be assembling an assembly of musicians over the next month or two with whom I'll be able to work in harmony, in all senses of the word.
And, in case you're wondering, no, I haven't joined the apparently enormous number of people who seem to have decided that the "war" in Iraq must have been a good thing, because it's "over" now (i.e. a massive army has taken over a country on a flimsy pretext), and now we're going, oh, isn't it good now that nasty military regime is gone! (Before the people of Iraq were "freed", they were terrorized by an oppressive regime whose armed thugs roamed the streets, sometimes even shooting innocent civilians ... isn't it swell that those days have gone now?! Now it's a completely different regime doing it!) Erm, that was what they told us the war was about, wasn't it? Oh, no, September 11th, that was it! Yeah ... Oh no, weapons of ... oh, whatever ...
