12th January 2002

Doh!   Sorry about the gap there - had sudden and complete computer death - the motherboard (bit everything else plugs into) decided it had had enough, and to say goodbye to all of this, and hello to oblivion.

So as a result was unable to update anything on the website until today, over a month.

   Sorry.

And obviously, no work on the recordings has been possible either.   So, there you go.   But I'm so back on the case now you wouldn't believe it.

22nd January 2002

Well, everything is going to plan, everything in its right place, all is well.   Recording ticking along, tweaking bits, etc.

I'm just wondering what to do with the whole gig-type thing.   I mean, I've been getting very excited about the electric band thing, but I guess as I'm about to release a CD of music in a decidedly acoustic style, I should do some gigs in an acoustic style to promote the CD.   Hmmm.

Come to think of it, if I do want to do some more electric gigs soon, I'd have to assemble a line up etc pretty much now, and get on it.   I've decided to have a rest from gigs till March, you see.   January and February are always pretty dead months for gigs anyway.    But having the electric thing ready for March might be too much to try and do, especially as I want to get a whole bunch of new songs together for the band thing.

So maybe I should resign myself to postponing full-on electric mayhem till the summer, try and get the intial acoustic thing established.   That's always the thing about recording, isn't it - I know a lot of musicians who are frustrated by this - that it's inevitably a snapshot of where you're at at a particular moment in time, so as soon at it's completed, it's out of date already.   Especially if you're signed to a major label and they um and ah about releasing it for ages, or indeed decide not to release it at all.

Thinking about it, I'm pretty glad to be where I am - to be able to do what I want musically, albeit mostly financially unrewarded!

I promise I'll post one of the new tunes as soon as one is completed!   We thank you for your continued patience as we await the delivery of  lemon-soaked paper napkins ...

29th January 2002

Feeling a bit worried I've not had much to report, or indeed to say generally, in these pages.

Hey, January's always a quiet month in the music business, know what I mean?   And I'm sure I'll get cross about something soon, so I can have a bit of a rant about it.   Yeah!   It makes me MAD!!!

Ahem.   Well, tunes are more or less there now, with only the possibility of redoing one of the vocals (yes I know I said I wouldn't do this!) before it's at the mixing stage.   In fact, the rough mixes are sounding approximately close even now.    No breath-holding is yet advised, but a little excitement is probably appropriate at this stage!
