Saturday 6th January 2001
Blimey, 2001! Baa, baaa, baaa, ... der-derrrrr!!! (Bom bom, bom bom, bom bom, bom bom ....) Baaaa, baaaaa, baaaaaa .... der -derrrrrrrrrr!!!!! etc.
But seriously, folks, it is a bit weird when 2001 has been, well, a movie all your life, and suddenly it's what your diary says on the front! It seemed so far away!
Oh well, there you go.
So, apart from me wigging out (which is hardly news, let's face it - although I have been experiencing a more-than-usual metaphysical meltdown the past couple of days, which is either a transitional stage to a more enlightened state of being, or the stage just before I finally teeter off the edge of the plateau which (purely by consensus) is referred to as "sanity" - or both) ... what else is going on?
Well, I have started recording that new song I referred to last time (working title "For What It's Worth (Unrequited #74)" - the first bit of the title is what the song obviously wanted to be called, the parentheses to differentiate it from the Buffalo Springfield classic of the same name), did the guitar the other night, just vocals to do now. Should be finished by the end of the month then, ho ho!!
Ho. And I'll be posting a live recording some time over the next week, I'll do a mailout when that happens, so, as ever, if you want to be added to the e-mailing list, let me know (see Contact Me).
Now - *warning* - massive dull technical tangent approaching!! - those of you who are familiar with websites will be aware that my sites uses what is known in the trade as "frames", i.e. the screen being in two bits, the left hand side (the "navigation bar") staying the same, while the different sections of the site pop up in the right hand side. Now I was tremendously excited when I found out how to do this, and I thought "Wow! My site looks so professional now, hooray, etc." and was generally chuffed to bits about it.
Imagine my surprise, etc, when, looking through the website tutorial business at www.webreference.com, I came across an article about frames, explaining how frames had come into being originally, and going on to say:
"Frames were incredibly popular despite their implementation flaws, and for a time the Web saw a "frame boom" during which almost every major Web site was framed. In this day and age, frames have become very unpopular in major Web sites ... because Web authors have come to realize the problems in their design, and frames usually reside in more amateur pages whose authors are still mesmerized by the magic of having frames appear on their Web pages ...."
Doh! I thought I was being so clever! Well, I don't care. But I just wanted to share that with you.
Right, got vocals to do. Until next time ....

Computer still broken.
Still haven't completed vocals on new song, but will post new song.
Later.
Sunday 21st January 2001
Well, haven't posted anything because I can't do jack on the computer (related to sound that is) because something's fundamentally broken. This time it really is. I'm sorry, I really am. (That's more of a statement than an apology, by the way.) Last week I was really quite upset about it (I've spent all this money on a computer so I can do recording and stuff and it NEVER WORKS!!!!! AAAAAAAAAGGGHHH!) but now I'm a bit more chilled about it (form is emptiness, emptiness is form). (Yeah, right, in my dreams!)
And I've been short of time/resources to spend on sorting it out because, what with one thing and another (having a cold, being a bit ... well, having a busy schedule being preoccupied with stuff - 2:00 lunch, 2:30 stare into abyss, etc.) I've been a bit tied up.
So! Don't know when it'll be sorted, 'cos I've currently No Idea what's wrong. Is it the new memory I bought? Is it the motherboard? Is it Henry the mild-mannered janitor? Don't ask me, in the words of the song, 'cos I don't know. I anticipate a large phone bill due to extensive web trawling. The answers are out there. Somewhere ....
Tuesday 30th January 2001
Well, still no closer to the meaning of it all, or indeed understanding why my computer doesn't work.
Other than that, haven't really been up to much, (in both senses of the phrase). Things of relevance to this page, I mean, been working, work-working, quite a lot. Oh, and spending money like there's no tomorrow, but in a kind of I'm-not-really-sure-where-it-all-goes way.
So ... there.
